Ottawa Locks (Rideau Canal flight of eight locks)

About
The largest single set of locks on the Rideau Canal, a flight of eight stone locks dropping about 24 metres from downtown to the Ottawa River, right below Parliament Hill and beside the Château Laurier. Walking paths and interpretive signs explain this early 19th century engineering feat, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free to walk around at any time; lock operations run in the boating season.
